Many consumers are concerned about not complying with water and heating regulations. Information is often confused or forviating.
Water regulations: two distinct areas
Drinking water – Legislative Decree 31/2001
- Water from the aqueduct is always drinking and must not be treated.
-
Sweeteners must be calibrated correctly:
- Hardness ≥ 15° French
- Sodium ≤ 200 mg/l - Too sweetened water can become aggressive and not drinkable, especially when used to cook.
Thermal water – UNI 8065 and DM 26/06/2015
- Chemical treatment of water in closed circuits (heating) is mandatory.
- If the power exceeds 100 kW and the hardness > 15°F, a softener is mandatory.
- Standards updated in 2019 with UNI 8065: chemical conditioning requirement, the use of polyphosphates alone is not sufficient.
Polyphosphates: pro and cons
Drinking water – Legislative Decree 31/2001
They were installed to protect boiler and sanitary exchanger.
Main problems:
• quickly consuming
• need frequent refills.
• If used badly, they can clog and irreversibly damage the exchanger.
Since 2019: according to UNI 8065, are not effective in closed circuits.
• Recommended to use only for sanitary water, not technical, and only if necessary.
• If the Kalko Tronic system is present, the dispenser is redundant.

Softeners: attention to use
Softeners: attention to use
• For drinking water: limit 15°F and sodium <200mg>• For the thermal system: only mandatory if >100kW and hardness >15°F.
• If the hardness is lowered to 7-8°F, an anti-corrosive is required to avoid damage.
• Sweeteners cannot treat both drinking and technical water simultaneously.

Kalko Tronic: advantages
Treats Water without altering its potability.
Protect Heat exchangers and appliances.
Do not require frequent maintenance Like polyphosphates.
It is a modern solution, useful and in line with regulations.
